Webthela ("we", "us") builds websites and software for businesses. This policy explains what we collect when you claim a free website or contact us, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
1. Who this applies to
Anyone who visits webthela.com, signs in with Google, submits a claim form, or messages us by email or WhatsApp.
2. Information we collect
- Google account data — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and a stable Google account identifier (used so each account can claim only one free slot).
- Identity details you provide — full legal name (required) and, if you choose, a government ID number (optional, e.g. Aadhaar or PAN).
- Business details — business name, type, website requirements, and related notes.
- Verification documents — one ownership or address proof file you upload (e.g. GST certificate, shop licence, utility bill). Files are stored in a private bucket and are not publicly accessible.
- Consent record — that you agreed to our review of this information, and when you consented.
- Support messages — content you send us via WhatsApp, email, or the on-site help chat (the chat itself does not send your messages to a third-party AI; answers are matched from our FAQ).
- Technical data — standard server and hosting logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) from our hosting provider (Vercel) as needed to run and secure the site.
3. How we use your information
- Verify that you are a real person and business for the free-website offer.
- Review, approve, or reject claims and contact you about next steps.
- Build and deliver your website and related quotes for paid add-ons.
- Prevent duplicate free claims (one submission per Google account).
- Respond to support requests and improve our service.
- Comply with law or protect against fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your proof documents for marketing or advertising.
4. Legal basis / consent
By signing in and submitting the claim form (including the consent checkbox), you ask us to process the information above for verification and delivery of the free website offer. You may contact us to withdraw consent or request deletion where applicable; note that we may need to retain limited records if required for fraud prevention or legal compliance.
5. Who can access your data
- Webthela admins — authorised team members listed in our admin allowlist can view submissions and open short-lived signed links to proof files for review.
- Service providers — Google (sign-in), Supabase (database and private file storage), and Vercel (hosting). They process data only to provide their services under their terms.
We do not publish your documents or government ID numbers on the public website.
6. How long we keep data
We keep claim and verification data while your project is active and for a reasonable period afterward (typically up to 24 months) for support, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention, unless a longer period is required by law. You can request earlier deletion by emailing us.
7. Security
Proof files sit in a private storage bucket. Database access from the app uses a server-side key; the public site key cannot read submissions directly. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.
8. Your choices
- Do not submit optional government ID if you prefer not to share it.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your data by email.
- Stop using the service; Google sign-in can be revoked in your Google account settings.
9. Children
The free website offer is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the product grows. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
